"Angels are just myths to people around here." He then looked to her. "Me? I'm a Phoenix."

She reached into another pocket, pulling out a small pad, and wrote the information down in Angelic script. "Interesting...so we've been reduced to myth?" She looked at him.

"Seems like it." He looked at her. "Probably the same for me and almost everything else here for where you're from."

"I see..." She put the pad away, along with the quill. "...well...I guess I'm the ambassador for my world. Since that gate is open now...communications should be established again. For that...we need a language we can both speak...not just an interpreter spell like what is enabling us to talk like this."

"I guess..." He then sat up and looked out at the ocean. "So...I don't have to work until night. If you want a tour around the village I can show you around."

"That sounds good...but I don't know how long I can stay...the other Angels must be freaking out at my disappearance by now." She chuckled nervously.

"I see...well if you want to go back you know where to go." He then stood up. "I'm at least going to go eat something then." He started heading towards the center of the village.

She stood up and followed him. She saw opportunity to learn about this world...but wasn't sure how hospitable it was to someone like herself...or how friendly the locals were. "You said you were investigating your side of the gate, right? What did you find out about it?"

"Nothing, by the time I even got there and started investigating you showed up." He looked back at her. "Why?"

"I was just wondering...I didn't find any information on our end either...until it sucked me up and spit me out on your shrine floor, of course." She kept following him, going where he did. "It baffles everyone, it seems. No one knows who built it...it is pretty much timeless."

She blushed a bit. "I have a bit of a...thing for knowledge. If I'm going to be here for a while...I figured I'd write what I learn down, then share it back home."

"I see...well don't let people around here know that I'm a Phoenix, I want to tell them myself." He looked to her and then started walking again and walked into the tavern he works at. "Hey, I'm back, I think I'll get to work early but I want to eat first." He walked to a table and sat down.

She nodded. "I will leave that out then...but I will mention your kind's existence, if that is acceptable." She sat down across from him, returning to writing things down, looking around her occasionally.

A waitress came over and he looked to her. "I'll have a steak." He then looked to Anastarya. "So what do you want?"

She looked up from her writing. She looked at the waitress, not knowing if her spell included her as well, since she was speaking in Angelic again. "Oh...I uh...I have no currency from this realm...I will pass."

"Money...little coins used in the exchange of goods and services?" She stopped writing, intrigued by his lack of knowledge on the subject. "Things of this nature are used in this world...right?"

"Not here...not sure if there's places that do around here though." He looked to the waitress. "Nothing else for now, maybe later." The waitress nodded and left.

"I see..." She made note of this as she resumed writing. "...it is interesting that there is no system for exchanging goods here." She hummed softly, clearly enjoying what was becoming a research mission, rather than an investigation on the gate that brought her here.

A few minutes later the waitress returned with his steak and he thanked her then he started eating it. "So why are you writing now?"

"I have learned much in the short time I have been here...so as not to forget things, I write them down." She showed him what she had written down so far, everything in Angelic script. "It also makes it easier to transfer the knowledge to a tome for future generations."
