She thanked the doctor, and walked back in, having requested Gyan to stay outside for a while. She walked to Cad, and sat next to the bed. "Hey. How you feeling?"

"Fine, wings still hurt a bit. Did he tell you anything?"

"Well, he didn't know exactly what is wrong, but they are running tests now, and from what he told me, it might be the Humans who caused it, but he wasn't sure about that."

"Oh? I have a feeling that's not all he told you..." *She shuffled her wings, wincing a bit.*

"Well, they're trying to find out what it is, and they're doing their best. He said you were still lucky to be alive, so I'm really glad you still are." She had started to tear up a bit.

"I realized just now how close I was to losing you as well ... " She sniffed a bit, and wiped the tears from her eyes.

She just recalled the doctor said her flying ability was possibly gone. "You'll have to do those things and more ... " She was near crying again.

"I will..." *She wondered what she meant by 'and more'...there wasn't much else she would need to be there for her for. She was already one of the oldest surviving angels...*

Amber looked up as the door opened again. The doctor had come back,. "What are the results, doctor?"

*Cad looks at the doctor* "Would that be possible?"

*He nodded* "She seems to care about you a lot...so I'm not going to hold her to protocol. You'll be under, though. The tests we're going to be doing require you to be under anesthetics."

Amber didn't get one word of what he said. "What does that mean, exactly?"

"Oh, right, so she won't feel anything. So, you'll be doing things that might hurt her, or .. ?"

"Pretty much...we have to thoroughly examine her wings, so we'll be making incisions, among other things. I guarantee it won't be a pretty sight, fledgling."

"I'm grown up. I've seen these things already many times." She only saw them on the TV several times, but nothing more.

"Your wings tell me otherwise. We have a policy of no family members in the room while we're doing this, but I'm not going to hold you to it. If you think you can stomach seeing your mother's wings being cut into, you're free to stay with her."

"I've learned my way in the Human World, that's a lot faster growing up there here, you are required to do everything by higher standards and higher tempo." She knew Angels took their time with learning, so she hoped her argument would work.
