Test of Strength? Tsun's first visit to the Human World.

A gate opened up deep in the forest, a girl falling through. "F-father! Oof!" She looks back at the portal as it closed. She sighed. "I guess I'm stuck here for a while..." She looked around, seeing nothing but trees and grass. It was nicer here than in her homeworld...she felt the cool air brush against her, her silver hair flowing in the breeze. Standing up, she brushed the dirt from her clothes. She was supposed to prove to her father she could hold her own...but wasn't that a man's job? Sighing again, she started off in a random direction, somewhat confident in herself.

Sirius suppressed a yawn as he slowly paced around the camp. Of course he would be the one elected for night guard duty. He silently considered just abandoning his post to get some shut eye, but decided against it. There were too many negatives, such as a surprise attack or people finding out he left his post. It was better stay awake and feel tired than be court marshaled for failing his duty as a soldier.
A rustling alerted him, and Sirius quickly turned to the sound flipping off his pistols safety. The noise was too loud to be a small animal, and larger animals in this forest tended to stay away from humans.

"Who's there?" He hissed out keeping his gun ready.

Tsun ducked into a nearby bush. She didn't expect to be found this soon...she didn't really want to go down the path her father seemed to want her to go down...all the fancy dinners...the suitors...and the fighting. Her mother was against it too, but yet here she was, in a foreign land, having to 'prove' she was a good noble's daughter. 'Shoot...this is so different than home...' She was used to less foliage than this world seemed to have.

Sirius tensed as no more sounds were heard. An animal would have run away from him after he asked the question. Something intelligent enough to understand was a threat, especially if it was trying to hide itself. He mentally ran down a list of potential enemies here in the forest. Perhaps a spy? But there was no information they would want from this convoy. It could be a revolutionist. They were always trying to bomb the vehicles the army had. At worse it would be a demon, but this was unlikely as they were miles from the front lines. Still someone was hiding and he needed to know what he was up against.

"I know you're there." Sirius repeated, shining a flashlight into the brush before him. "I just need to know if you pose a danger to the convoy." Because if they were, they wouldn't live to cause any trouble.

She could see the Human from her hiding spot...he was getting closer. She had to think clearly and quickly...her kind was a warring culture...full of fighting and backstabbing. She was sure she could take down a lone Human soldier...and she didn't sense any more nearby. She was here to prove herself...not to cower in fear. She stood up, half poking out of the bush. She hoped she appeared intimidating...though unbeknownst to her, her Angel half made her appear more like a human, especially since she was young. "I-I fear you not!"

Sirius stopped short as a girl poked her head out of the bush.

"I-I fear you not!" She declared and Sirius resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Yeah, like that stutter was fooling anyone. He let out a sigh and lowered his pistol giving the girl a disapproving glare.

"What the heck are you doing in the woods at this hour?" He gently scolded. He was not eager to baby sit a girl. Hopefully he could scare her into going back home. "Don't you know the woods are dangerous at night? There are monsters lurking in the woods maybe even demons. You should go home to your parents in town before you get hurt."

She went red, looking away. She didn't intimidate this Human...? Maybe she wouldn't have to fight him...but she would give it another try anyway. "I do not fear anything, human." She tried her best scowl, which looked more like a teenager who wasn't getting their way. Her voice was a little more coherent this time, which she hoped increased her chances to intimidate him.

Sirius's eye twitched. 'I do not fear anything, human?' Not only was she wandering around in the middle of the woods acting like a child, but now she was trying to imitate a demon? Sirius sighed, maybe it was what teenagers were doing these days. All he had know was war. In fact he was part demon himself, not that he broadcasted that information out there.

"Look, I don't want to cause any trouble. You are currently trespassing on a restricted area of the armies convoy. If you need me to escort you home, the I can do so, but I don't have time for your acting." Sirius elaborated. "I will just need your name and I can escort you back to town, deal?"

She sighed, dejected. She didn't have what it took after all. Part of her didn't want to take his life and leave what family he had alone...but another part of her wanted to do what her father asked, and prove herself. She raised an arm towards the man. "Who says I'm imitating a demon?" Her hand grew hazy, then an orb of electricity started to form. Her voice held little malice, though, and although she intended the words to sting and draw a bit of fear from this man, her voice betrayed her.

Sirius watched as the orb from her hand. His first thought was akin to panic. If he pulled out his gun now, she would definitely attack him. He needed to stay calm and composed. From her voice though, he didn't hear much anger or even malice. She showed more disappointed than anything. Had she been sent to kill the convoy or did she wander into them by chance. Perhaps this situation could be salvaged. The best way was to gain her trust and get any information he needed.Of course to gain her trust he needed to use his trump card.

"Would you put that light out? Your going to blow our cover." Sirius' release his limiters and his eyes flashed red while his hair became ashen white. "I am a demon too, so put out that light and we can talk someplace else."

The light faded as the orb did. "You're...like me?" She knew there was a conflict going on...but to encounter another demon out here by chance? It was probably why she couldn't intimidate him...older demons were more powerful than she was. "No wonder I couldn't frighten you." She sighed again, leaning against a nearby tree.

Thank god, she didn't seem hostile. He was well aware that most demons were powerful enough to kill several men. His once again sealed his power and his hair and eye returned to normal. It was exhausting keeping that state up. Never mind his tiredness though, he needed answers.

"Of course you didn't scare me." Sirius lied, happy she didn't call him out on it. "I didn't expect a demon to be so far into enemy territory though." Sirius needed information. Who she was, why she was here and what her goals were. "My name is Sirius, and I currently working undercover in the human armed forces. Who are you and what are you doing so far behind enemy lines?"

She looked at him, lowering herself to a sitting position. "My father told me that I needed to prove myself as his daughter...and pushed me through a gate to this world. I'm only of my fifteenth summer, so of course I had objection...but as the daughter of a noble...there was little I could do. I'm here until I can show him I can take care of myself." She looked forward again, her silver hair blowing in the wind.

Sirius cocked an eyebrow. That wasn't what he was expecting. He had expected some plot or at least some sort of plan. Apparently they had found each other by dumb luck. Sirius could only shake his head. What kind of parent throws their daughter to the human world to make them prove themselves? It sounded like backwards logic to him. Still, if she wasn't here to cause him harm, he could help he out.

"I am sorry to hear your circumstances." He apologized. "Do you have some sort of plan from here on out? How long do you have to stay here to prove you can take care of yourself?" If she was staying for an extended period of time she would need food, shelter and a way of income. All of which was hard to come by in times of war.

She shook her head. "I thought it would be easy, if I found a village or someplace to scare...I don't think I could kill anyone...mother is always telling me to fight my instincts, and has raised me in a very kind manner, unlike father." She blushed, realizing she was pretty much confiding in this stranger. "F-forget I said that..."

Sirius held back a laugh. For all that she was, she was still young. It seems she was kinder than he would have thought. This was perfect, if she wasn't violent then she could probably complete her mission without him worrying. He rather not force innocent people to die for a coming of age test.

"No it's fine. I appreciate you telling me," He smiled. She was actually kind of cute when she blushed. Sirius quickly discarded the thought however. He didn't have the luxury to waste time thinking of trivial matters. "Your choice to avoid killing others is commendable and I recommend you follow that as closely as possible. The more trouble you cause the more likely that humans will hunt you down," Sirius warned.

"Hopefully you find a way back to your world soon. The human world is just as unforgiving as the demon world in some ways. If you want to survive you will need to find some source of income. That and a place to stay."

She sighed. "A demon that won't kill is a dead demon..." She looked up at the sky, stars twinkling. "...that is what father always says to my mother. My 'test' will likely involve death...I deceive myself by saying that all it would take to go home...is to scare the peasantry..." Her voice echoed her sentiments.

Sirius felt her somber mood. He couldn't exactly deny her father's saying as he had killed several people before. Assassination was his job after all, and his half demon blood certainly helped him when he needed it. All and all, he pitied the girl. She had been thrown into an unfamiliar world with no one to help her. Not only that but she was being forced to stay until she committed to an action she did not want to do. It seemed to be the ultimate irony. To get home and not kill anyone, she had to take someone's life. If she didn't then she would be stuck here.

"I honestly don't know what to tell you. You seemed to be in between a rock and a hard place. I can lend you some money for a few nights at an inn and some food, but I am not sure what else I can do to help you. There isn't exactly any small villages that I know you could terrorize."

She sighed. "Mother was right...fighting is for the men..." She stood up. "...I bet that's why father can be so cold about this, and mother so kind." She smiled at the stranger. "I think I'll take you on your offer, sir...I may be here for some time to come. You proved to me that I can't do this, but I'll make the most of my time in this world..." She turned her back to him, looking at the sky again. The moonlight shone down on them as clouds parted, revealing a pair of small, grey, feathered wings underneath her bright silver hair. "...I am the daughter of a noble, after all...I have to be strong."

Sirius stopped short when he saw the feathered wings on her back. She said she was a demon and from her lightning orb he had believed her. The wings however threw him for a loop. Demon could have wings, but they were mostly bat like and had scales. Feathered wings belonged to angels. Perhaps she was a demon angel hybrid? He tucked this information away though. It was none of his business to ask about. In fact Sirius was a hybrid as well, and he didn't want to bring it up. He withdrew a small pouch and filled it with the required amount. He held the bag out to her.

"This should get you by for a few days." He didn't mind throwing away some money, as long as she didn't make his job harder it would be find. She had made him curious though. "You said you were nobility? Who is you father?" His mother had never mentioned nobility among demons. Perhaps the culture had changed.

Tsun turned to him. "I am the daughter of the Daion clan." She took the pouch from him, tying its strings to a loop on her clothes. "My father...is the head of the clan." She looked away. "I must ask something of you though...since I know nothing of this realm, will you...escort me to a population center? So I can look for this source of income that you spoke of?"

Sirius considered the just telling her the way, but decided against it. Walking through the human market would be a nightmare, especially at night. besides that would technically get him off night patrol.

"Sure, but allow me to alert me superiors. I need to report that I found you and I am escorting you back into the nearby town." Sirius mentally ticked off what he needed to tell them. Location of the lost person, why she was out this far and if she was in any possession of weapons. All of these could be fabricated and taken care off. The last thing he needed for the report was...

"What is your name?" Sirius asked. "I don't believe you specified. I will need to tell the guards something so I can escort you back."

"It's Tsun." She leaned against the tree again. She had exposed another fact about herself...but at least it was with another demon.

"All right then, wait here for a bit. I will be back after confirming with my superiors." With that Sirius wandered back to the main camp. He tracked down his commanding officers and explained the situation and requested to assist the 'civilian' back to the city. After a long discussion on time and whether or not the convoy would be delayed, Sirius was given permission to return Tsun back to the city.

"All right, I have been given permission to get you to the city and into the main market. I won't be able to stay much longer than that as I need to get back here before sun rise to move with the convoy." He briefly looked at his watch. We have a few hours, but we better get moving." With that he began to walk, gesturing Tsun to follow.

She nodded, following him. "I am sorry for disturbing your patrol..." She looked around as they walked, taking in the scenery. "Mother would love this place...it is very...dry...where we live, in the Demon World."
