Patroling the skies

Astraria flew over the forest, exercising her wings a bit. She stayed around her cabin, surveying the area from above. After a while, she decided to fly deep into the sea of trees. She smiled, feeling the wind through her feathers. She quite enjoyed flying like this. It felt so...free.

Raphael was walking around, he had gotten a vacation from the university. He was walking slow the invisible chains he wore restricting his movements.

Astraria slowed to a glide. She hummed softly, looking around on the ground, and the treetops below. Everything looked so alive, despite the past turbulence. She sang a little, her voice carried by the winds.

Raphael heard the voice, "someone out there?" He looked around for where the voice was coming from.

Astraria passed overhead, not seeing him. She was slowly loosing altitude, gliding towards a nearby clearing.

He walked in the direction that she landed at.

Astraria was standing with her back to him, her wings in full view. She was still singing, but more softly now. She walked into the forest, deciding to explore on foot for a bit.

She stopped and turned around, startled a bit by his sudden appearance. "O-oh...hello." She quickly scrambled for her robe, though she knew it was already too late, and he had already seen her wings. "Did not expect to see someone else out this far into the forest..."

"I was thinking the same thing." He looked at her top to bottom, "what sort of creature are you?"

She blushed as he looked her over. "I-I will not lie to you...I am an Angel. You have seen my wings...are you going to hate me because of this?" She waited for this human's reaction, knowing she was different.

"The way you fly would imply that your bones are hollowed and you are very light. How interesting, though the placement of your wings on your back would not make for effective flying. I wonder why evolution would put them there?" He shook his head, "oh sorry the scientist part of me got carried away. Why would I hate you, you have given me no reason to hate you."

She went red, her form being dissected in such an analytical manner. "I-I can fly quite well, thank you very much. Humans hate anything non-human...so I thought you would hate me."

"Oh, I hardly could hate you. I do not even know you. For all I know you could have a good personality and be a nice person."

"I see...well, thank you. I guess humans are coming around to accepting others now that the fighting has stopped." This gave her a little bit of confidence to reveal herself as an Angel to the people of the camp.

"Oh I am just one human I can't say if I represent the humans as a group." He looked around, "some people can't handle stuff out of the ordinary."

"I know what you mean. I was in the city once, before all this, and was nearly caught. The lady let me escape..." She smiled softly. "...so, what brings you out this far?"

"I am on vacation, getting away from the city and what not."

"There is nothing left of the city, so how could you be on 'vacation'?" She looked at him curiously. It had been over a week since the bombing.
