A Search

Subject: A Search Tue Feb 23, 2016 12:19 am

Riza had arrived in New Pendragon not that long ago, an hour or so, and already made his way to the governments base of operations. His goal was to get into the armory, find his legacy. But he had not a single clue on how. He'd have to start with the local guard. He walked up to a woman, Lysandra. "Hey, you're of the government, right?"

Lysandra was out of uniform, but she turned to answer. "I am, why do you ask?"

"I am a researcher, and I was told that there's an ancient relic, some artifact, inside the New Pendragon Armory. I'd like to investigate it. Off course I won't touch anything and I'll merely observe the item, and by all means you can search me and give me an escort. I merely wish to see it, is all. Could you help me with this?"

She studied the man carefully. "I don't know how much I can help." She looked around, hoping to see someone better qualified.

"It's fine if you can point me towards someone who can, too. Just hope I can get to see it. My paper sort off depends on it." He looked around, waiting patiently. Rushing things would get him nowhere. Calm and collected, that's how he'd most likely succeed.

"I'll see what I can do then..." She motioned him to follow. She was supposed to be on duty, but the recent turn of events in Arakai had shaken her resolve a bit.

Calmly, he followed her. No use in small talk with the events of late.

They walked through the complex. "So why exactly did you need to see this?" They stopped as they got to the armory wing.

"Writing my final paper for university. It's about archaeology and a friend told me they had some ancient weapons in the armory. I hoped to find the one that I'm researching. It would give a lot of valuable information, such as precise looks, weight, design, material and the sorts."

She nodded. As good a reason as any. She input her code into the pin pad, then pressed her hand to the plate.

Riza waited, looking away as to not see the code, respecting the chain of command and all that. So far, so good.

The door opened. "Security inside is tight. Stick close, and don't touch anything." She walked through the open door.

He turned around, nodded at her, then followed. He wasn't planning on touching anything. Bar one item.

She walked him through, hoping her being out of uniform wasn't going to pose any issues with security. She reached a shelf, and took a tome from it, holding it out to him.

Riza took the book, looking at it, somewhat puzzled. "I take it, this is the summary of all registered weapons relics and the sort?"

"Should be." The book was a handwritten one, the title suggesting a record of inventory within the Armory.

He went through the book, and found what he was looking for at the last page. Along with the other Demonic Arms, he found the one item he needed. "That's the one. The golden spear, staff, scepter. 'Emperor's Rule', it's called."

"Well, I'm definitely sure they won't let either of us near it. I barely have clearance to get in here..." She sighed.

"Damn, really need to see that one. You have any favors you can call in? I'd owe you a big one."

She thought about it. "I'll see what I can do." She wondered if her Project clearance could be used here as she went to the phone to call up her superiors.

Riza looked back at the page. It was so close, so nearby. He couldn't go empty handed now.

Lysandra came back a few minutes later. "I got you no more than a minute with the thing...I hope that's enough time for your research..."

"I still have to escort you...they made that abundantly clear." She had gotten an earful from requesting the clearance.
